As the winter season arrives, many riders take a break from their adventures. Whether you’re storing your bike for an extended period or continuing to ride, it’s important to follow proper maintenance practices to protect your Orion Moto Volt or Static, especially its battery.
The Volt and Static batteries are designed for long-lasting performance, but improper storage or handling can lead to damage. Follow these essential tips to ensure your battery stays in top shape:
For Long-Term Storage
- Charge Between 60-70%: Before storing your bike, charge the battery to 60-70%. Periodically check the charge, and recharge to this range if it drops below 60%.
- Unplug Once Charged: Never leave your bike plugged into the charger for extended periods. Once the battery is charged to 100%, unplug the charger to reduce the risk of fire or damage.
- Cool, Dry Storage: Store your battery and bike in a cool, dry place with low humidity. Avoid freezing temperatures, as they can permanently damage the battery.
Riding Section
- Room Temperature Charging: After riding, allow your battery to return to room temperature before charging to prevent damage.
- Avoid Deep Discharge: Do not let your battery drop below 10%. If it falls below this level, the battery may shut off completely, preventing future charging. Ideally, recharge when the battery reaches 20-30%.
- Charge Fully, Then Unplug: Charge your battery to 100% after use, and always unplug the charger when complete.
General Battery Care
- Never try to internally modify your battery.
- Regularly inspect your battery for any signs of wear or damage.
By following these guidelines, you’ll keep your Volt or Static in peak condition, ready for whenever the next ride calls. If you have questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team.
